Blue Mirror is a saxophone quartet work by Australian composer Andrew Ball. Written for a standard SATB instrumentation, Blue Mirror explores a flowing and malleable rhythmic pattern with the parts often working in pairs throughout. Syncopated rhythms and time signature changes create interest along with the use of multiphonics, growling, and a short ad lib section for the soprano and alto parts. With no altissimo and a well structured score, this work is versatile and suitable for a number of different ensembles.
